My Approach
Parents are doing the daunting work of raising the next generation of people, and that takes a mountain of energy, intention, and grace. I believe that we are all innately worthy and want to do right by our kids. As neurodivergent and anxious parents, we have our own unique brains and the challenge of learning how to meet our needs in a world that tells us we are deficient for being different. That’s where I can help.
I believe that therapy is, above all else, a relationship between people. As a neurodivergent person who has benefited greatly from therapy myself, I know how transformative this relationship can be when it really works for you. My philosophy is ultimately this: you are the expert on your own life and I will treat you as such. All you have to do is show up as you are and be open to building a safe and trusting relationship so that we can do the difficult work that growth in therapy can require.
My clients would describe me as warm, direct, curious, and funny. I will work to get to know you and create a safe space for you to show up authentically. I invite you to come to our sessions with snacks or a beverage, have your pets with you, dress comfortably, and use any fidget/stim tools that help you feel at ease.
I draw from a mix of therapeutic approaches, primarily Narrative Therapy, which emphasizes the stories that we all develop throughout our lives that inform how we view our relationships, actions, beliefs, and identities. Through this approach, we can begin to understand how these stories have helped or limited us and ways in which they can be revised or rewritten so you can better cope with life’s challenges and understand yourself on a deeper level.
I work from a trauma-informed lens and commit myself as a therapist to practicing from a neurodiversity-affirming, anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ and disability/chronic illness-affirming, COVID-conscious, fat-positive, and anti-diet framework.
